You're still pretty new to the game. I can give you a couple recommendations.
If you want to build traffic, readership and influence you need to very carefully manage your frequency. Likely hold it at about 5 posts a week, schedule your posts either prior to the start of the day or lunchtime and always have something interesting for people to consider. It's a hell of alot of work.
This or the alternative: write for you. Write because you enjoy it. Write because you have something to say. When you have something to say, write about it. When you don't, oh well. Don't fret over whether you post frequently and simply try to get some enjoyment out of it. Otherwise, you'll burn yourself out and end up wondering why you put in all this time and it seems like Bermuda hasn't caught on to a word you've said.
Denis makes some very good points there, and I have benefitted from his counsel in the past. It is all too easy to get seduced by looking at the reader stats. You'll find the blog stats start of high, then plummet, plateau and slowly rise. That's fine. Don't get discouraged. Just post when you can and on what you want to. No problem.
I am glad you are sticking with it, I think you reflect the thoughts of many.
I just have one request through, some of your purple and blue links on the home page make the copy difficult to read, if you could check the css, the grey, lt blue and orange work well.

ReplyDeleteThank you both for your advice, I'll try to keep that in mind.
